The hyoid apparatus is a bone not conneted to any other bones which sits in the throat of animals to help support their trachea. Seen here is a horse hyoid apparatus; but don't worry- you don't have to memorize any of the parts!!! I don't think we even have one of these in the classroom so the changes of it being on the practical are slim, but just know what it is and where it is.
