The nasal cavity can be seen by looking down the shaft of the nasal bones from the most rostral end. The hollow space within is the nasal cavity. The nasal cavity houses turbinates, which are curly round bones inside allowing the air breathed in to be warmed and humidified as well as cleaned out of particles. The picture here shows turbinates in the nasal cavity of a lion. The picture below shows the nasal bones highlighted in light blue on a dog.
