The sciatic nerve sits just under the Biceps femoris on each leg and provides the lower legs with nervous control and sensory abilities. Since the Biceps femoris is a muscular injection site one must be cautious to point the needle at an angle facing caudally into the muscle instead of perpendicularly straight in, or the sciatic nerve could be injured and nerve function of the legs could be lost.
