The dermis is the middle layer of skin between the epidermis and the hypodermis. It has a papillary layer and a dpper reticular layer. The reteicular layer is much thicker and is 80% of the dermis. The papillary layer has Meissner's corpuscles, which are nerve pain receptors. This layer also has looping blood vessels.
The hypodermis, or subcutaneous layer, has touch receptors called pacinian corpuscles but is mainly made of areolar or fat tissue.
